On this last week of November I will be sharing snippets from my 30 Days of Thanks E-Devotional.
Today I’m sharing Day 25: WISDOM
Day Twenty-Five: Today’s day of thanks is focused on Wisdom.
All the things you desire can not be compared to wisdom! For those of you who went out bearing the cold, the hustle and the bustle and chaos of Black Thursday, Friday, and Saturday or anything other BIG holiday weekend, anything you desired and purchased this past weekend, cannot compare to wisdom. Although you can’t watch, wear or ride in wisdom, it is the best thing you can give yourself.
You WANT to have wisdom. Wisdom gives you peace to make sound decisions in the midst of a chaotic storm. Wisdom along with knowledge and understanding help keep you out of relationships (personal/professional) that mean you no good. Wisdom will cause you to keep your mouth shut when you have the power, authority and skill to shut someone down. Wisdom says not now, he/she isn’t worth it. Again, you want to have wisdom in your life.
We are so thankful for WISDOM. Proverbs 3:13 says ‘Happy is the man that finds wisdom and the man that gets understanding.‘ When you find wisdom and get understanding, there is a happiness you have which can’t be explained. Now you may be saying I don’t have as much wisdom as I’d like to. Well that is what is so great about God, because in James 1:5, he lets us know that if we lack wisdom, we can ask and God will give it to us freely and liberally. YES… all you have to do is ASK.
If you don’t have as much wisdom as you’d like, you have not because you ask not. Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find and knock and the door will be opened (Matt 7:7).
It is just that simple.
So on this day we are thankful for wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We are thankful that with it we are able to make better decisions regarding our lives, our families, our careers, our health, etc. We are thankful also because it is with wisdom that we will be able to live the abundant life God has prepared for us. Every decision we make will not always be easy as pie and we will need a foundation upon which to base our decisions. That foundation is the wisdom we develop and hold near to us which is based on God’s word and His principles. We want to be able to make the right decision at the right time with the right people in the right place. We are grateful that wisdom will help us align ourselves with those who can help us do and be all that God desires for us to be.
Lastly, God’s word says that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Wisdom begins when we learn to reverence God for who and what he is in our lives. We can’t deny that. God is the author and finisher of our faith. It starts and ends with Him and for that we are also thankful. Never forget the role that God plays in your life as it relates to wisdom or any of God’s other principles. It is wise to reverence God for who and what He is, this allows him to be for you who He desires to be…. ALL THAT AND THEN SOME.
‘Now unto Him, who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ask or think‘ (Ephesians 3:20). This is the God that wisdom unleashes when we keep Him FIRST.
Lord on this day we thank you for wisdom. We thank you for a gift that many people have access to but never use. Lord we are grateful because in your word it says that if we lack wisdom, we can ask and you will give it to us freely. What an awesome gift! Lord as we encounter trials, tribulations, and challenging situations, let us use the wisdom that is so readily available to us. We now know that if we are unsure, we can boldly ask for wisdom to make every decision that comes our way. Thank you for reassuring us that everything we need we have, all we have to do is access it. Lastly, Lord we are also thankful for knowledge and understanding through wisdom. Help us to use it wisely. AMEN.
