Thankful Thursday – Motivational Minute 437

It’s Thankful Thursday!

Today’s Motivational Minute is… Give Thanks for Closed Doors!

Yesterday I received some not so good news.  I knew that a NO was a possibility so I wasn’t that surprised but the reality of hearing it didn’t sit too well with me.  For a few minutes I started to relish in the closed door, forgetting that this was an opportunity for something better to come my way.

In order for an open door to become available, some times there has to be a closed door.   We’ve heard the saying, “When one door closes, another door opens.”  Many times we spend so much time cursing the closed the door that we forget that the closed door is just what we needed in order for an open door or even an open window to present itself to us.

The next time a door closes, say THANK YOU!  Give God a great BIG Thank You for the open door that is on its way.  Some things aren’t always in our best interest and sometimes rather than give an explanation, God just closes the door.  Trust that all things are working together for your good, even the not-so-good things.

YOUR TURN… on this Thankful Thursday, tell me, what was the last disappointment that took place in your life?  Did you give thanks for that closed door or curse it?  If you cursed it, take a few moments and recant your cursing 🙂 and give thanks for your closed door.  When you think back, was that closed door an opportunity for an even bigger and better door to open for you?

Here’s to you living life IN & ON Purpose…

  1. I agree wholeheartedly. I experienced some closed doors in the past two years that really stunned me. But, I’m so grateful for the doors that were opened as a result. Things are still not where I want them to be, but God has truly provided and I’m so grateful for the mental place that I am in as a result of the entire situation. Great post!

  2. T's Memoirs says:

Last Thursday, I was thankful for not being seriously injured in a freak accident that I was involved in. It caused some tiny set backs and as of now I havent seen what doors have opened caused of it.
Looking back on a door that has closed for me was about a year and a half ago I applied for a superviors position that I was certain I would get. Unfortunately, I did not get it. At the time I was disappointed but knew that I didn’t get it for a reason and I may or may not know that reason.
A couple months ago, I was told that that position I applied for and many others from that department were eliminated. Now, I see why that door closed for me and the current door stayed open.
