Motivational Minute 188

Today’s Motivational Minute is dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

And so Jesus gave us a new norm of greatness. If you want to be important—wonderful. If you want to be recognized—wonderful. If you want to be great—wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That’s a new definition of greatness.

And this morning, the thing that I like about it: by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.  And you can be that servant.

Remember to thine own self be TRUE, for out of the abundance of the HEART, the mouth SPEAKS… speak life and be true!

An Outrageous Request

So for some time I’ve been reading a book called Jesus Life Coach. It has what I would call daily passages about how your life can be changed with Jesus as your life coach. This particular passage for today was ‘With Jesus as your life coach, you will Hear Outrageous Requests’. It is based on John 14:22 (NJB) and it really resonated with me and I think there are some of you out there who need to accept and walk boldly into that outrageous request that you’ve been wrestling with. In this passage, Laurie Beth Jones, the author writes,

‘His requests will cause you to leave behind maybe everything that you thought you knew… But if you are willing to give up the ground of everything you think you know, and follow the way that He will show you, you will be given blessings beyond your wildest imaginings… It is one thing to ask God for what you want. Real change happens when you ask what God wants for you. That’s when transformation occurs.’

This passage speaks about how Jesus will ask us to step out of our comfort zone and allow Him to take us to a place we never thought we could arrive at.

At the end of each passage, there are questions to ponder on and answer. Here are the questions from this passage …

1. What outrageous requests is Jesus, your coach, making of you?
2. What if what he’s asking really could come true?
3. What if the only thing keeping it from happening is you?
4. What would happen if you released the brake and decided to go for the ride?

As you ponder on this passage and these questions, I challenge you to DAILY ask God what He wants for you for the next 31 days and see how your life changes. Be open to allowing the impossible to happen in your life. You just might be surprised at what could happen.

When it Rains it POURS…

It seems as though when it rains, it pours. I’ve been told that it’s got to get bad before it get better. Not sure if that’s just the cycle of greatness preparing you for purpose and destiny, but I do believe that there is something to be learned in every experience. Just not sure what I am supposed to be learning through this process. Not sure if I missed something and God is trying to get my attention or if I am being prepared for MORE! Although I know MORE is on its way, the process and journey to my ‘milk and honey’ will definitely be a story to tell when it finally arrives.

Though I’ve received some news that could send the ‘next’ person into a deep depression or a state of panic, I trust God and trust that this too shall pass. Although it’s only been day two… I believe that my faith is already being tested, tried, and strengthened.
